Inspired by Martin Luther King Jr’s speech ‘I have a dream’, DREAM NATION invited 600 people from all walks of life to write haikus inspired by Dr. King’s vision for change. These were displayed on a specially commissioned, traveling installation.
Throughout the month at Guest Projects, Tangle Company created two specially commissioned, musical and poetic works by African and Caribbean writers: Patricia Cumper MBE, Inua Ellams, Tawona Sithole, Alia Bano, Pauline Walker, Rex Obano, Chino Odimba, Louisa Adjoa Parker, Christopher Rodriguez, Paula B Stanic and Andrew Whaley – in response to Dr. King’s speech.
DREAM NATION toured South West England during 2014, in collaboration with South West England’s Partnership for Multi Racial Theatre, a consortium of arts organisations, founded by Tangle in 2013.
Tangle is an African Caribbean theatre company. We find new creative ways for people to adjust their perceptions of contemporary British identity. Our projects help build confidence in, and enthusiasm for multi-racial theatre across South West England.
