A festival of dance, workshops, discussions and exhibitions around the political potentials and impacts of choreographic practice.
The Rebel Man Standard is a project by dance artists Jamila Johnson-Small, Hamish MacPherson and Zinzi Minott exploring the political potentials, and potential ramifications, of dance and choreographic practice through a range of activities.
In line with the project’s general approach, the three of of them have organised this festival together but chosen the content separately, attempting to support and enable each other’s desires, rather than aiming for a coherent curation that corresponds with a single artistic vision/mission. They are interested in what can happen when these different works and events meet and overlap in a shared space, and in how their individual agendas can coexist.
