Radical Abstraction | The Artist Dining Room | Hilma af Klint

Friday 10th May 2019, 7pm - 10.30pm

Tickets £50 per person, including a five-course vegetarian meal and entertainment.

On Friday 10th of May, The Artist Dining Room at Guest Projects invites you to an unforgettable evening, exploring the extraordinary, mystical and occult-inspired works of the Swedish artist Hilma af Klint.

Hilma af Klint created radical and experimental abstract paintings during the early 1900s, investigating mysticism and the symbolic value of both expansive and intimate colour, shape and compositions. Requesting that her work would not be shown until twenty years after her death, af Klint silently explored new paths in abstraction, even before her more well-known contemporaries, Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian.

For this unique occasion, food-based artist Inês Neto dos Santos and video and sound-based artist Tomas Jefanovas have collaborated to curate an immersive dining experience. The bespoke multi-sensory menu devised by Neto dos Santos will respond to the spiritually led modes of visual representation and abstraction in Klint’s work; whilst sound effects, projected shapes and symbolic imagery by Jefanovas will reflect on Klint’s abstract use of colour, texture and geometric shapes.
