La Wayaka Currrent was founded in 2015 and has since grown to provide an essential link for artists to remote nature and cultures. Our work manifests in arts & cultural projects, residence and research projects at multiple locations, collaborations, interdisciplinary works and international exhibitions.
This has become vital given the pressing issues the planet is now facing, through partnerships with remote and indigenous communities in natural environments, projects are developed to expand awareness and create dialogues between these locations to others in the world.
With temporal bases in Europe, South and Central America - Tropic 8 ° N, Arctic 78 ° N and Desert 23 ° S, we work with international emerging to established artists and local organisations, to develop projects that relate to these concerns in a multitude of ways.
Work developed at our bases over the past two years at 8 ° N, 78 ° N and 23 ° S will be exhibited to wider audiences at Guest Projects, London UK in July - August 2018. We will involve international selected artists who have participated in our projects, invited speakers and exhibit multidisciplinary works alongside a programme to include talks, workshops, performance and screenings.
