A Fabricator's Tale

A Fabricator's Tale

Event date: February 1, 2021 - February 28, 2021 Export event

A Fabricator’s Tale is a digital exhibition that brings together 10 artists who are the fabricators behind the intricately painted classical figures and sewn quilts of Yinka Shonibare CBE. While the artists presented here exhibit varied and strikingly disparate practices, through their shared experience as fabricators at Guest Projects their work collides and intertwines to form a brief moment of unity. While the aim of this exhibition is to showcase the individual practices of each fabricator, it is underpinned by a collective sense of what it means to work toward a common goal, to unite breadth of skill and in many ways to relinquish artistic autonomy. We hope that this group presentation will foreground the range of expertise and heterogeneous practices of each artist as well as unearth unexpected connections between their work.
