Event: Fundraising Dinner at G.A.S. Lagos

Event: Fundraising Dinner at G.A.S. Lagos

On October 2nd, G.A.S. Lagos hosted a fundraising dinner supported by our trustee Niyi Adenubi, which brought together collectors, cultural leaders, and art enthusiasts for an evening of ideas, connection, and a shared vision for the future of Nigerian art and culture.

The evening began with a warm welcome from Niyi Adenubi, who reflected on the power of collective support in sustaining creative institutions and communities. Guests were then treated to a special recorded message from Yinka Shonibare CBE, Founder of the G.A.S. Foundation, created especially for the occasion. In his address, Yinka shared the founding vision behind G.A.S., reflected on its impact within the art ecosystem, and spoke about the long-term ambitions guiding the Foundation’s growth. He also highlighted the importance of continued patronage and acknowledged key supporters present in the room. Following this, G.A.S. Trustee Temitayo Ogunbiyi delivered an inspiring address reflecting on her journey as a trustee, her commitment to the Foundation’s mission, and the vital role that collective philanthropy plays in nurturing artistic and cultural ecosystems. Guests were then invited on a guided tour of the Foundation’s Lagos space, led by Executive Director, Moni Aisida, and Finance Officer, Tomiwa Adegbola.

Throughout the night, guests enjoyed a thoughtfully curated menu by Chef Vee, who shared the inspirations behind each dish. The evening was filled with engaging conversations, shared reflections, and a renewed sense of purpose among attendees on the importance of sustaining spaces that support artistic growth and cultural exchange across the continent.
